When we bought our home in 2011, our children were four, two & three months old. I was in survival mode with motherhood; owning an art business wasn’t really on my radar at the time. We loved that our home had a bonus room - it became a guest room and was used occasionally. Looking back, I recall our home is the only one we considered with space workable for an art studio -- It was meant to be.
Fast forward a year and a half later to January 2013, I decided to offer two after school art classes. The bonus room remained the occasional guest room with space to teach art as well. Since then, as my class offerings and student enrollment have grown, I’ve gradually moved everything out that isn’t “art studio” and now it is 100% my creating & teaching space!
My art studio has become my favorite room in our home - my art home so to speak! It is a happy, colorful place to create as an artist and allow my students to create as well. It serves for messes and assorted creativity, demands no stress about keeping it perfect or always cleaned up. I am thankful to have this amazing space!
n the summer of 2019, my husband and I did a complete floor to ceiling remodel! We pulled out carpet, redid the floors, painted, changed lighting and created a much more art friendly room. I LOVE it and my students seem to as well!
