My Latest Paintings!

The month of October was filled with ART! Yay! October is already one of my favorite months of the year, but then to add several painting projects to it, well that makes it even better! I was asked to do 2 different commissioned paintings, both an honor & a challenge! The First - An acrylic painting of a wedding dress. My friend & neighbor, Julie, had seen a dress painting in the background of a movie set, which gave her the vision to have one painted for her own home. She picked out the color palette & loaned me a photo of her wedding dress, & I got to work! I never had realized how difficult painting a dress could be - getting the proportions right on the neckline, bodice & length was a fun challenge! 24x36 Acrylic ©2013AlisaNelsonStudio

The Second - A watercolor/ink for Michael Armstrong's office at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, OK. He has been a meteorologist for years & recently made a career change into the ministry. He & his lovely wife asked for a watercolor painting of a storm with the verses, Matthew 8:26 & Isaiah 60:20. The storm was quite the challenge but it was awesome to watch it come to life! 24x36 watercolor/ink ©2013 AlisaNelsonStudio

Art for the DSACO!

Phil413wcinkMy sweet friend Jamie, whom I've known since we moved to OKC in 2002, asked me if I would be interested in doing a watercolor/ink painting to help raise money for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma! I was thrilled to say yes, as I know the DSACO provides support & resources to many families right here in the OKC area! I painted an original 5x7 watercolor/ink of Philippians 4:13, which is their son, Josh's, life verse. You can purchase a print of the painting for $15. $10 of every print sold will go straight to DSACO! Think about purchasing one for yourself or for a future birthday or Christmas gift -- it IS just around the corner! :) Each print will be printed on high quality, linen paper & will come in a clear, protective envelope, ready to frame or give as a gift.

There are 3 ways to purchase - use the PayPal button at the bottom of this post, contact Jamie & pay her, or contact me & pay me. Sales will begin today & end on October 13th. After the sales period has ended, we will do all the printing & shipping of the prints. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Jamie. Josh & the DSACO thank you for your support!

Helping Oklahoma

**UPDATE - JUNE 13, 2013**

I just got off the phone with PayPal - they agreed to remove all the transaction fees (it was 74 cents per print) from my Tornado relief watercolor print that's even more to donate!! I will be donating over $800 to Life Church OKC "Relief & Restoration" fund this weekend! Thanks again for all your orders & support! And thanks to PayPal & FedEx Office (donated all my printing) for their generous donations as well!

On May 20, 2013, a horrific tornado went through Moore, OK, causing death, injury & loss. Other tornadoes also occurred causing devastation to multiple OK communities. We are all feeling heavy-hearted here in Oklahoma, and wondering what we can do to help. Here is a just a small way I am hoping my art can help. I am selling prints of this 5x7 watercolor/ink for $15. ALL proceeds will go to the Moore, OK tornado disaster relief through our church (Life Church, OKC Campus) Relief & Restoration efforts. Read more about this at  I have chosen to give the funds to our church, because I have great confidence in their handling of finances. I know the money will be used most effectively, to help the tornado victims in Moore & surrounding OK communities (Shawnee, Carney, Newcastle, etc.)

I watched the Moore tornado in its' entirety on tv - from formation until it stopped. It was very emotional to know that this destruction was occurring 20 miles from me while I was sitting comfortably in my home. I started thinking of what I could do to help. So on Tuesday afternoon, the day after the tornado outbreaks, I painted this. I chose gray & blue to signify the storm. I chose this verse because in times of suffering it is powerful to think upon the Lord's return & His control over everything, especially the things we don't understand.

The watercolor/ink print is size 5x7 & printed on high quality, acid-free paper. It comes in a clear, protective envelope, ready to frame or give as a gift.

The 'Buy Now' button below will allow you to purchase through PayPal. If you live near me & don't want to use PayPal, or if you prefer mailing me a check, you can do that too! Just email me at or message me on FB - Please allow 2 to 3 weeks to get your print. Again, I will donate ALL sales from this print to the OK tornado victims.

Thank you for your generosity!

Watercolor & Ink

I have really been enjoying doing these watercolor / ink pieces. I did the pink Psalm 139 one for my daughter's room. Since publishing it on FB, I have sold prints of it & also received commission requests, such as the purple Psalm 139. I have some more in the works, including a blue/gray superhero one for a little boy's room! Such fun! ps13914purple2

Recent Projects

DSC_0558A favorite technique of mine lately has been watercolors & Sharpies - both are fabulous on their own, but together they are even more fun! I created a monogram for my new business name.

I painted this last week to hang in my studio / classroom.
